Sanjay parents are the late Hindi film actor-actress Sunil Dutt and Nargis, both of whom were well known in the Bollywood film world. Sanjay is a pious man, he has strong faith and belief in Hinduism. Her mother Nargis died in 1981, the first film starring Sanjay was released in 1981. Nargis died before the film was released, many believe that Sanjay became addicted to drugs because of the grief of his mother Nargis’ death. As a child artist, Sanjay starred in the 1982 film Reshma Aur Shera, starring his father Sunil Dutt.
Since making his Rocky debut in 1981, he has acted in more than 180 Hindi films. Although Dutt has excelled in comedy films ranging from romance to comedy, he has been acclaimed for his role as a gangster, gangster and police officer in dramatic and violent films. For his work in these roles, the Indian media and viewers called him “Deadly Dutt”. His films include Khalnayak (1993), Bastav – The Reality (1999), Munna Bhai MBBS. (2003) is one of them. He co-starred with Aamir Khan in the 2015 film PK. In more than 36 years of film career, he has won two Filmfare Awards, two IIFA Awards, two Bollywood Movie Awards, two Screen Awards, three Stardust Awards and one Global Indian Film Award and one Banga Film Journalists Association Award.
Dutt was arrested in April 1993 for terrorist and anti-solidarity activities. Although the charges against him were dropped, he was found guilty of illegal possession of firearms. He was released from jail on February 25, 2016 for good behavior and conduct while serving his sentence.

In early 1980, he formed a relationship with his first film co-star, Tina Munim. After their relationship ended, he married actress Richa Sharma in 1987. Richa Sharma died in 1996 of a brain tumor. In 1988, their daughter Trishla was born. After Richa’s death, Sanjay wanted to keep Trishala with him, but he lost the legal battle to Richar’s parents. Trishala is now living in the United States with her grandparents. Sanjay married Riya Pillai, a model from Bimanbala, in February 1998. They divorced in 2005 and divorced in 2008. He also starred in films such as Main Awara Hoon (1983). In 1985 he made Jaan Ki Baazi, his first film in two years. Khalnayak became a box office hit and was the second biggest hit of 1993. Followed by another box office hit – Gumrah, it was Dutt’s second straight hit Year. In 2017, Dutt starred in Bhoomi, directed by Omung Kumar. In 2018 he played in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 with Sanju. in which he appeared. In 2019, he joined the cast of the seminal film Bhuj: The Pride of India, starring Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, and Parineeti Chopra. Dutt currently works as the main antagonist in K.G.F: Chapter 2, the sequel to the Kannada hit film K.G.F: Chapter 1, which marks its Kannada movie debut.
