Shammi Narang is an Indian broadcaster, former news anchor, and entrepreneur based in Delhi. After completing his engineering studies, Narang first ventured into broadcasting and worked in the Hindi department of Voice of America. He was subsequently selected from 10,000 applicants for Doordarshan, then India’s only broadcaster, and became the “face of Doordarshan newscasts” and Indian television in general in the 1970s and 1980s. His portrayal of Sarab Sanjhi Gurbani has become the voice of Sikhs worldwide.
After the advent of satellite television, Narang left the channel and began training emerging and aspiring news anchors, journalists, broadcasters, and MCs.
Voice messages and announcements in all Hindi trains and stations of Delhi Metro, Gurgaon Rapid Metro, Mumbai Metro, Bangalore Metro, Jaipur Metro, and Hyderabad Metro are recorded in Narang’s voice.
